Forbidden screens at Rutgers University April 12
Forbidden has two screenings on Wednesday, April 12! The first will be at 5:00 p.m. at Rutgers University in New Jersey presented by The Center for Race and Ethnicity. We are very excited to have a rich conversation with students studying racial politics at Rutgers. Heather Mathews will be there for a Q&A following the screening. We are very excited to be returning to south Florida for another MiFo screening on Saturday April 22! We screened at MiFo in Fort Lauderdale in the fall and had a fabulous time at the festival. We also received the runner up for Best Documentary audience award! Maybe this year we will take home the grand prize 😉 Moises will be in attendance for the screening and Q&A! Should be a grand time!

Audiences in West Virginia will get another opportunity to see Forbidden when the Appalachian Queer Film Festival heads to Marshall University. The film festival is teaming up with the university's Sexuality Studies and Film Studies programs for the event. Heather Mathews will be there for the screening and Q&A! We are excited to partner with the LGBTQ Community for Racial Justice and Chronogram for a screening of Forbidden in Poughkeepsie, NY on Friday, April 28 at 6:00 p.m. Moises will be there for a Q&A following the screening. We are very excited that Forbidden will be the opening film for FuerzaFest LGBTQ + Latino Festival! This multi-media festival is a celebration of Latino LGBTQ culture and offers a space for conversation and awareness around social issues. Forbidden feels like a perfect fit! All screenings are free and open to the public! The festival runs May 10-21 in NYC.

We are honored that Forbidden was invited to screen at Jose Antonio Vargas' Define American Film Festival in Charlotte, NC. Founded by Vargas in 2011, Define American is an incredible organization working to shift the narrative surrounding immigrants and identify in a rapidly changing country. Forbidden will be one of six films shown at the festival. In addition to the screenings, the festival is full of stimulating panels discussions with revolutionaries Dolores Huerta and Melissa Harris-Perry among others. Check out the website…
